The Kyiv-based label Telesma has released a new album by electronic musician and producer Native Outsider. ‘Episodes’ consists of five tracks created entirely through improvisation, which ‘unfold like a musical diary written in sound textures’
Conceptually, ‘Episodes’ is described by the producer as ‘an image of the fragility of movement and change, where the slightest breath can transform an echo into a new form’. Native Outsider refers to the tracks on the release as ‘chamber music that requires silence and focused listening’.
Musically, the release exists ‘on the boundary between ambient and sound poetry’. Native Outsider says he wrote the album over the course of a few days spent at home while recovering from illness.
‘I decided to record some musical ideas through a synth jam session as planned. It turned out that I slipped into a specific flow state, clouded by a high fever and an overall fatigue from the lack of sunlight’, the producer recalls.

‘Episodes’ is built around the sounds of his algorithmic Arturia synthesizer, as well as ‘field recordings paired with granular synthesis, endless warping and resampling, and a wide range of processing — primarily based on delay and saturation’.
About Native Outsider
Native Outsider is a project by Ukrainian sound producer and audio engineer Arkadii Lenov. In his work, he explores the multifaceted nature of dance music through the lens of sound design and engineering, primarily focusing on bass-oriented genres.
He has released music on labels such as Progressive Future, Orbitraxx, and Obscura Imprints, and is currently a resident at Kyiv’s Polygon.
In 2023, Native Outsider released the album Modern on the Progressive Future label. Across seven tracks, the producer presented his signature sound, characterized by a dense and highly detailed soundscape.
In the autumn of 2024, Native Outsider released the album ‘Kōhai’. The release consists of 10 tracks written by the artist between 2023 and 2024 and is conceptually dedicated to the theme of renewal — ‘both external and internal’.
