Behind Blue Eyes запустили другий сезон подкасту

Behind Blue Eyes has launched the second season of its podcast featuring children from frontline and de-occupied villages

In the second season of The Blue Eyed Podcast, the Behind Blue Eyes team talks with participants of their previous projects about ‘inspiration, change, and magic’. New episodes will be released every two weeks, and the hero of the first episode is Dima from Lupareve

About the new season

The second season of The Blue Eyed Podcast was recorded in Snihurivka, Novovasylivka, Chornobaivka, Pivdenne, and Lupareve in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, as well as in Lukashivka in the Chernihiv region.

According to the team, the children have grown up, so in its conversations Behind Blue Eyes tried to trace the transformations they have undergone. They share their thoughts about the future, their values, and their dreams.

‘In the new season, we’re meeting children again whom we’ve known since they were very young. Now they are teenagers: some have had their voices change, some no longer see the world through rose-colored glasses, and some have started dreaming on a larger scale. Our exploration of childhood is gradually turning into an exploration of adolescence. It’s fascinating,’ the podcast’s producer and host, Tetiana Bezhenar, says.

Just like in the first season, the new episodes were recorded in places familiar to the children — in backyards, near schools, on playgrounds, and at the beach.

Among the heroes of the new episodes are participants of Behind Blue Eyes’ disposable film camera project, the first season of the podcast, and the Blyshchyk festivals. Among them is Masha from Lukashivka, one of the first participants of the project, as well as Nastia from the village of Lymany, a Blyshchyk participant. She is the author of the track Bonus about dumplings, which was included in the ‘Blyshchyk Tapes’ compilation.

About the first episode

In the first episode of the new season, the project team talks with 14-year-old Dima from Lupareve.

‘He dreams of enrolling at a university in Kyiv while also traveling through frontline villages with Behind Blue Eyes, helping other children discover their creative voice. Dima is convinced that inspiration can be found in anything — even in an ordinary tree — and that without dreams, life loses its brightness,’ the Behind Blue Eyes team says about him.

The podcast with Dima is also available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

About the first season

The first season of The Blue Eyed Podcast was released in 2024 and consisted of five episodes.

‘We never aimed to be professional documentarians. We just wanted to give children the chance to express themselves and reflect, because their thoughts deserve time and attention. And it seems they really enjoyed the process,’ Artem Skorokhodko, co-founder of Behind Blue Eyes, said about the podcast.

Among the heroes of the season were 9-year-old Vika, 12-year-old Heorhii, 8-year-old Veronika, 10-year-old Nazar, and 10-year-old Kostiantyn Olehovych. They spoke about the things they most enjoy, how they imagine their future, and the dreams they have.
