The visual for ‘Clark’ from the album ‘Morpheus’ was filmed by the directing duo of Alina Prisich and Yehor Parker. In this video, the directors and the band continue the album’s central theme — the concept of sleep and dreams
About the idea of the video
Another theme of the video and the track is the loss of control and its influence on human actions. ‘It’s about the chaotic nature of life. Fuji Moodji’s music has always stood out for its focus on internal and external change. And, as paradoxical as it may sound, I wanted to create the lightest possible imagery, where a person could just feel this unique mood of our souls’, Parker explains.
The directors describe the video as an ‘unconscious flow’ and a ‘pure visual attraction’. At the same time, Fuji Moodji wanted the music video to convey the desire to ‘feel the fun’.
‘To vibe, go wild, and follow the impulse in every frame. Fuji Moodji has always been about that. To feel creation not as something serious, but as something light and fun’, Alina adds.
Behind the scenes
Parker and Prisich are best friends who have known each other for 11 years, so they had considered collaborating for a long time. However, co-directing was a first for both of them. For Alina, this music video was her directorial debut, after which she decided to film her first solo project — the video for Fuji Moodji’s track ‘Svitlo’.
‘We didn’t have a clear plan or a division of roles, so everyone did what they wanted and could. It was mostly intuitive, since we don’t have a full-scale production team. It was just the two of us and the Fuji guys helping each other out for the sake of the result. It was a collective effort where everyone pitched in’, the director says.
About ‘Morpheus’
The story of ‘Morpheus’ began with the tracks ‘Cumcvat Dive Pound’ and ‘Ulamok’, which were initially meant to be included only on the ‘Clark’ EP. However, once the band had eight tracks, they decided to expand it into a full album and began shaping its narrative.
‘It’s a myth created from reality. A journey that begins with a big question: ‘Is it worth it?’ The album is about the journey — the feeling when you’ve already gone through something important and difficult, and with surprise realize it was only the first step. There are no guarantees, no compromises. Nothing but the journey itself’, duo member Hlib Petrenko says.
The album focuses primarily on the lyrics and the songs’ ‘accessibility’, while the sound of ‘Morpheus’ is minimalist — without electric guitars and with an emphasis on drums and bass.
