Ukrainian designer and founder of the eponymous brand, Masha Popova, created a capsule collection for Spanish brand Desigual. In it, the brand’s archival silhouettes are reinterpreted through the designer’s work with workwear denim
The collection’s overall aesthetic draws inspiration from the 1990s and 2000s style.
It includes fringed-hem dresses, jeans in various styles — from wide-leg to flared silhouettes — as well as dresses with hooded dresses, leather tops, and denim sets inspired by the iconic women’s tracksuits of the 90s and 2000s.
Starting February 17, the collection will be available online and in Desigual stores.
About Masha Popova’s other collaborations
In September 2024, Masha Popova and adidas presented a collaborative sneaker collection based on the adidas Superstar 82. It was part of a broader collection created with adidas Originals.
The central theme of the adidas and Popova collaboration was the idea of distressing — a concept she often uses in her designs. According to Masha, the footwear was meant to become a ‘natural extension of the garments’, which is why the sneakers, much like the clothing, feature elements of erosion.
Every adidas Superstar 82 features five layers of special paint that wear down over time ‘to reveal a signature Masha Popova texture’, and is finished with metal eyelets.
