«Модуль тимчасовості» (MOT) у Львові

MOT continues its work in Lviv and presents a new exhibition

On June 22, the art space ‘Module of Temporality’ (MOT) will reopen in Lviv with a new exhibition. The exhibition, created by the team of The Collectyv, a project aimed at highlighting Ukrainian contemporary art, will feature works by 18 Ukrainian artists and painters. DTF Magazine tells more about the upcoming exhibition

About the Exhibition

It is dedicated to the variety of feelings and experiences that people have during their lives, even against the backdrop of a prolonged war.

‘This exhibition is about our new experience of living life, — the members of The Collectyv say. — About what is created in the midst of destruction. About rebuilding bordering on rebirth. About love, anger, growth, fear, shame, hesitation, joy, guilt, loneliness, empathy, the surrealism of what is happening, the breaking of familiar things and the building of new ones, corporeality and sexuality, resistance and resisting. About the right to exist. About the process of accepting ordinariness that one never expected. About consciously choosing to see beauty. About the future we are creating now’.

Works at MOT will include paintings, sculptures and video art by artists such as WaOne, Alexey Kondakov, Bohdan Burenko, Artem Proot, Alexander Kryzhanovskyi, Maria Oz, Diana Ruban, Volodymyr Semkiv,Iryna Maksymova, Alina Zamanova, Kinderseele, Love Curly, Aliona Andreieva, Lera Derkach, Yehor Hrybovych, Danik Manzhos, Dmytro Moldovanov and Artur Muzo.

About The Collectyv

The Collectyv is an independent ideological project that aims to highlight contemporary Ukrainian art and support independent artists. The team holds art exhibitions in cooperation with Ukrainian grassroots charitable organizations — they organized the first auction exhibition within the framework of the project in March in Kyiv’s NAMU.

‘We believe that art creates an impact that goes beyond mere visual pleasure, encouraging viewers to think and, when it is influential enough, to act’, the members of The Collectyv describe the idea.

The initiative was created with the support of Roman Sviridov Gallery and is realized by contemporary Ukrainian artists.

MOT is a temporary cultural space by the don’t Take Fake team that ran during February-October 2023 in Kyiv, Dnipro, Lutsk and Lviv.

The two-story structure, built from 27 modules, housed an exhibition of canvases, sculptures, installations and audiovisual works by 28 artists from 10 countries, who dedicated their works to the theme of ‘temporality’ — the state of uncertainty and change in which Ukrainians find themselves now. The space worked in Kyiv for three months and then traveled across Ukraine — Dnipro, Lutsk and Lviv.

You can find out more about MOT, its idea and history, architectural concept and visual language, as well as read exclusive interviews with the curator of the project and Ukrainian and foreign artists in our special topic.

During six months of work, MOT accumulated more than 10 million UAH from the sale of entrance tickets and items from the gift store, which became a fund for the restoration of art institutions damaged as a result of russian aggression. Chernihiv Regional Art Museum named after Hryhorii Galagan will be the first to receive help from it.

In autumn 2024, the MOT team will organize a charity auction in Paris. Some of the works presented in the first exhibition of the ‘Temporality’ space will be exhibited there, and the profit will also be donated to the art space fund.
