In addition to tracks in her native Spanish, Rosalía will sing in Ukrainian on her upcoming album ‘LUX’, set for release on November 7. The singer shared the news on the Popcast
In total, ‘LUX’ will feature 13 languages that are not native to Rosalía. In addition to Ukrainian, the album includes German, Sicilian, Latin, Arabic, and others.
On Popcast, Rosalía shared that singing in a foreign language is, for her, ‘a way to better understand others — and through that, to understand myself, and also to love others’. According to the artist, she wrote the lyrics using Google Translate and then consulted professional translators to check ‘whether it sounded like complete nonsense’. It took her a year and ‘countless attempts’ to write the lyrics for ‘LUX’.
