Ukrainian graffiti artist RUBAE is set to release a new book

Ukrainian graffiti artist RUBAE has opened pre-orders for his second documentary book, ‘Freight Passion WAR ARCHIVES’. Weighing 1.7 kg, the publication features photographs of 130 works the artist created on freight trains between 2023 and 2025

The works presented in ‘Freight Passion WAR ARCHIVES’ were created by the artist both abroad and in Ukraine, ‘often to the sound of air-raid sirens and on days when every trip could have ended unexpectedly’.

The book combines RUBAE’s new conceptual typefaces with classic graffiti forms and compositions — ‘a tribute to the roots of graffiti culture and a conscious effort to merge tradition with contemporary expression’.

The book has a print run of 1,000 copies. It can be ordered on RUBAE’s website.

The artist released his first book featuring his works in the spring of 2023. In it, RUBAE compiled 132 graffiti pieces created on freight trains of the construction company Kovalska, produced between the autumn of 2018 and the winter of 2022.

In a comment to DTF Magazine, the artist said that when creating the book he wanted ‘to document a unique period in the history of Ukrainian graffiti and to popularize the underground culture among people who are not part of it’. Another goal of the book is to highlight the Ukrainian graffiti movement, which might otherwise have been overlooked by the international community.
