During Russia’s massive missile attack on Kyiv on October 7, the three-pavilion building of Dovzhenko Film Studios was damaged. In a comment to DTF Magazine, Yuliia Radostina, head of the press service, reported that pavilions No. 6 and No. 7 were damaged, while the film studio staff remained uninjured.
As of 11:00 AM on October 7, the roof and part of the walls of the building were still burning. Fragments of a Russian missile with a warhead fell onto the pavilions, though it is currently unknown whether it detonated—the wreckage was taken away by the State Emergency Service (DSNS) for examination.

According to Radostina, the pavilions were used for filming and events. Following the Kyiv City State Administration’s (KMDA) introduction of a temporary ban on public events on September 10, the Dovzhenko Film Studio was in the process of obtaining a permit to host events.
As a result, the schedule for using the facilities was pushed back, so there was neither equipment nor staff inside the pavilions at the time of the strike.
What will happen to the damaged pavilions?
According to Yuliia, the Film Studios team has already spoken with Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna and ‘reached certain agreements’ regarding the restoration of the pavilions. Dovzhenko Film Studios is currently awaiting the conclusions of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in order to assess the damage and develop a restoration plan.
Dovzhenko Film Studios has been damaged for the third time. The first two strikes occurred on June 2 and June 15. One of them was a direct hit on the costume department, where the film studio’s archive was stored.
According to the National Police, as of 11:30 AM, two people had been killed in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack. Nine more people, including three children, were killed after a missile struck an apartment building in Pryluky. There are also reports of 38 injured. One person was also killed in Kremenchuk.
