Anonymous Ukrainian electronic musician Re:Drum has released a new single The King Is Back. It was complemented with the first music video in the artist’s career
In a comment for DTF Magazine, Re: drum said that when he started working on the track, he ‘wanted to create an epic and new sound, but also keep his style’. In The King Is Back he combined guitar parts with electronic music.
‘The track consists of elements of different genres: electro, breakbeat, bass music, punk rock and others. I wanted to emphasize aggressive and driving sound, adding punk and rock elements, but not to go into more niche genres, like rock or bass’, Re:drum explains
The director of the debut music video of Re:drum was Kyrylo Tsvirkun, co-owner of the Odesa underground club Tsekh33.
‘This is a story about a street fighter who at one time was the king of street hand-to-hand duels. Because of personal problems, he left the sport, began to lead a wild lifestyle, consumed a lot of alcohol and drugs, was out of shape and was defeated in his first fight. He gathers his thoughts, gets revenge on his opponent and eventually successfully defeats him, showing that the king is back’, the description of the music video reads.
The electronic music project Re:Drum was created in early 2020. The producer behind the pseudonym remains anonymous.
According to him, for Re:drum he creates music ‘in which he can put more personal things than in other projects, not chasing musical trends and bringing his own vision to electronic music’. In singles Re:drum focuses on aggressive and rhythmic sound and experiments with genres and their combinations.
In 2022, Re:drum presented the EPs Bassboosted Edits and Slavic Madness, and in 2023 he released a four-track EP called New Folk.
