Confidance in Lviv has opened on the site of the Atlas book factory, where the spaces Aktovyi Zal Fredra.61 and Drabyna previously operated. It currently functions as a club, but in the future the organizers plan to expand its scope — hosting lectures and workshops, as well as launching a school and a label
The history of Confidance began in 2023, when Mykhailo Tovstenko, also known as Ghetto Hell from the Trace club team, started looking for a place for the ‘young Lviv scene’.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, the Trace team joined the Defense Forces, and Mykhailo engaged in volunteer work, later returning to music:
‘We wanted to create a new, high-quality stage here — with high-quality sound, a comfortable space, and a unique, expert-driven vision from the residents. A place that would bring together the entire Lviv community, not just a venue for rent for parties’, Tovstenko says.
About the space
The design of Confidance was developed by the Armz Studio team.
‘Our curiosity about the diversity of music inspired us to seek diversity in interior design. We imagined and dreamed of what a music space created by us could be like. In the summer, Mykhailo told us about his idea to create a club and invited us to join the design development. That’s how Confidance appeared in Lviv’, Armz Studio say.
The team adds that everything was organized by ‘enthusiasts’ with a minimal budget, so all the interior solutions were ‘as cost-efficient as possible’.
The five-meter bar counter was assembled from vintage cabinets finished with moisture-resistant polyester lacquer — on some panels, you can still see the original locks and hardware.
The smoking area was placed directly within the space, which, according to the team, was one of the most challenging tasks. Part of the area was separated with a silicone curtain, allowing the zone to ‘transform and disappear’.
‘The curtain created a pleasant, soft shape, and thanks to a powerful ventilation system, we were able to make the function work. Behind the smoking area, a more intimate space emerged where you can lie down and listen to music. We created two 10-meter-long soft ‘worms’ that can be easily rearranged and reshaped’, Armz Studio add.
The Confidance sound system features Martin Audio acoustics — the same brand used in Berlin’s Berghain and Kyiv’s ∄.
About the club’s events and residents
Currently, Confidance has a core curated series of events, which is combined with showcases from friendly collectives.
Among the club’s residents are Bedroom Talks, SVZZ (a participant of Mirage Camp 2021), BOH (a participant of Mirage Camp 2025), COMPUTER, Cyber_696969, Dragan, Ghetto Hell, Vlad Kovalov, Lstn, Mike, Ocean T, Spinel, and Strubitskaa.
Confidance has already scheduled its event calendar through the end of spring, with announcements to be released on Instagram. The upcoming highlight is a showcase by the Criminal Practice collective, featuring a live performance by Brooht and a set by Vlad Kovalov.
