Walakos

A new album by sound producer Walakos has been released on the Dnipropop label

Walakos is the solo project of Dnipro-based sound producer, sound engineer, electronic musician, and one of the members of the warniakannia project, Andrii Sokolov. His fourth album, ‘Baseline Distortion’, released on the Dnipropop label, features seven tracks written over the past two years

According to the producer, he began working on the music after ‘the familiar conditions of life changed’. The album’s title refers to ‘a change in the basic settings through which a person perceives the world’.

Musically, the album, as described, ‘leans toward a UK sound with an emphasis on grooves and rhythms’, while retaining the sonic texture and melodic quality that have already become signature elements of the project.

Walakos also used samples from collaborative works with colleagues in the album’s singles.

In the track ‘<<RWD’, there are samples from jam sessions with Mykyta Troiepоlskyi (mutedbirds), Sokolov’s friend, which the producer himself describes as ‘a reminder of life before all the changes’, while the track ‘Ray’ features guitar parts by Maksym Borovyk, Andrii’s fellow soldier.

The final mixing of ‘Baseline Distortion’ was handled by Dnipropop label sound producer Yurii Bulychev. The album cover features the painting LOST by artist Roksolana Deineha
