About DJ Stingray
Sherard Ingram (aka DJ Stingray 313) is one of the key figures of the Detroit sound, particularly its electro scene. He began his career in the late 1980s, while the numbers in his stage name refer to Detroit’s 313 area code.
DJ Stingray’s techno and electro sets explore themes of contemporary science, genetics, healthcare, technology, and their influence on the human condition.
Ingram is the founder of the collective Urban Tribe and collaborated with the Detroit electro duo Drexciya in the early 2000s. His releases have appeared on labels including Mo’Wax, Clone Records, Mahogani Music, Warp Records, Rephlex, Tresor, and Unknown To The Unknown. In addition, DJ Stingray 313 runs his own label, Micron Audio.
