Kyiv-based BRUKXT will host its SPLAV festival. Here’s what you need to know about it

The third multi-genre event SPLAV by the BRUKXT club takes place on July 4–5. This year, the two-day festival focuses primarily on sonic experimentation. The organizers describe the four stages as ‘four different states of perception’, featuring performances by 38 artists in the lineup. DTF Magazine spoke with the club’s team to share a closer look at what to expect from the new SPLAV

About the concept

In a comment for DTF Magazine, the team described this year’s SPLAV as ‘the moment when experimentation ceased to be just individual decisions and became the foundation of the entire festival’.

‘Over time, BRUKXT has evolved into a space where the combination of different genres, formats, and artistic practices has become a core operating principle — and it is precisely this logic that formed the foundation of SPLAV in 2026’.

In the organizers’ view, it is exactly ‘at the crossroads of diverse scenes, genres, and creative practices that sonic breakthroughs and new communities are born’. Thus, experimentation here is ‘solely about this synergy, rather than an attempt to be intentionally complex or inaccessible’.

In developing the festival’s core concept, the team sought to cultivate an environment where ‘every emotional state is valid’, recognizing that each attendee arrives in a completely different mood.

‘We wanted to move away from the idea that a festival has to be solely about fun, carefree energy, and constant excitement. If today you feel like immersing yourself in darker or more intense sounds, you can do so not alone with your headphones on, but as part of a shared experience with other people’.

About the stages

The organizers chose to ‘leave space for changes in emotional states’ not only in the festival’s concept, but also in its physical experience. The four stages of this year’s iteration serve as a seamless extension of this philosophy, each curated with its own dedicated sonic and emotional identity.

The program on the Main Stage is described as a ‘more aggressive and radical form of self-expression’, whereas the Horyshche (Attic) location offers a deep and calm listening experience.

The organizers call Temnytsia (Dungeon) a ‘destructive and dark space that will dismantle conventional structures’, while Litka (Summer Stage) is meant to be a ‘stage for high-energy dancing’.

About the lineup

The lineup for the two-day SPLAV features 38 artists, with live performances making up the bulk of the program. At the same time, the organizers emphasize that they have invited both well-established artists and emerging names who remain largely unknown to the wider audience.

‘Our role is to create opportunities for artists and communities from different backgrounds to meet, interact, and discover new points of connection’, the organizers conclude.

The team emphasizes that it has always been important for BRUKXT to ‘discover new original music, support the underground, and create a space where people can encounter artists they may not have heard before’.

At the same time, the third edition of SPLAV marks the festival’s return to collaborating with independent collectives.

‘After the very first edition of SPLAV, we realized just how valuable it is to bring together people from different musical scenes whose approaches and visions resonate with our own’, the organizers explain.

On Sunday, the Temnytsia stage will be fully curated by the young noise and experimental collective RE:RE:RE:. For the festival team, this is ‘an opportunity to give a new community the space to shape its own statement within the festival, and for visitors — a chance to see yet another perspective on the contemporary scene’.

About SPLAV

In May 2025, BRUKXT announced the opening of its new Horyshche venue and the first edition of SPLAV, a three-day open-air festival featuring performances by more than 20 Ukrainian electronic artists.

The event was presented as a multi-genre festival, with the festival days curated directly by the BRUKXT team and friendly collectives Kultura Zvuku, Rejoiced, and PUP.

The idea for the event emerged following the expansion of the venue with another fully restored location on the grounds of an abandoned distillery in Kudriavka. Horyshche became the club’s main space for the summer season.

For the second edition of SPLAV, the festival teamed up with the collective ÓPIK. Back then, 40 artists performed across four stages inside the club, and alongside the musical program, the event also featured a lecture, a film screening, and a dance performance.
