For electronic producers Ulyana YUVI Avtenyuk and Dmytro BADWOR7H Kolesnichenko, ‘Kytsia’ became their first joint release. The dance track is about ‘meanings, memories, and doubts’ that are unique to each listener
The dance part of ‘Kytsia’ was written by BADWOR7H, ‘the kick drum and synthesizer that set the tempo’ were created by YUVI, and the bassline was recorded by musician GRABAR.
According to Ulyana, the track, ‘like most of YUVI’s songs, was created based on feeling and impulse’. The producer adds that she finds it difficult to collaborate with other musicians, but the collaboration with BADWOR7H ‘was constantly playing in her mind’. So, when choosing a co-producer, she thought: ‘Of course, Dmytro’.
‘Actually, at first the work was difficult. We’re both very stubborn, so we spent some time trying to get along and make compromises, which turned out to be completely pointless, — BADWOR7H recounts about the collaboration. — We finished the track, which was a compromise for both me and her — I didn’t like it. Then I listened again to Ulyana’s very first demo and tried to immerse myself in the atmosphere, rather than focus on agreements about whose instrument would stay and whose wouldn’t. And within hours, what you can hear now was created’.
YUVI and BADWOR7H shared one of the early demo versions of the track with DTF Magazine.
‘The rhythms of synthetic zeroes stitch together an emotional collage of fading touches and inner ruptures. The voice does not dictate but leads — leaving behind an inner dissonance and allowing each listener to hear their own’, the description reads.
