Austrian artist Florentina Holzinger will visit Ukraine for the first time to meet with Ukrainian artists and host three events in Kyiv, Odesa, and Lviv. The first events will be workshops for performers, taking place at the Mystetskyi Arsenal in Kyiv on August 25 and 26

Registration for Holzinger's Kyiv workshops is available via the link. The artist will be in Odesa on August 27–28 and in Lviv on August 29–30. KЇ PLATFORMA, the co-organizers of the Austrian performance artist’s visit, will post the upcoming event schedule and registration links on Instagram.

Who is Florentina Holzinger?

Austrian choreographer, director, and performance artist, one of the most influential figures in contemporary European performance art. She works at the intersection of dance, theatre, circus, opera, and visual art. The artist’s method, the Holzinger system, is built on discipline, risk, and mutual trust among the performers.

In 2026, Florentina represents Austria at the 61st Venice Biennale with ‘SEAWORLD VENICE’ — an exploration of the human body in a changing aquatic landscape, at the intersection of nature and technology.

At the entrance of the pavilion, a bell was placed as a symbol of something sacred and at the same time as a warning of a catastrophe. The bell is rung three times a day, with a woman’s body used instead of a clapper.

The pavilion is accompanied by a cube-shaped aquarium in which performers spend several hours at a time. The tank is filled with water produced by purifying the excrement of Biennale visitors.

The pavilion itself was flooded with water, and periodically one of the performers rides a jet ski inside while talking about the ecological disaster caused by overtourism in Venice.
