During his European tour, Kyiv-based producer and VERTUHA house co-founder Seba Korecky performed on Berlin’s Refuge radio. His hour-long set is a selection of exclusively Ukrainian disco funk soul music, from classics to modern tracks. On DTF Magazine the musician presents a recording of the performance and tells about its concept
According to Seba Korecky, one of the goals of the tour was to spread Ukrainian music, which was to give ‘an impetus to Ukrainian artists to create new things’ and also ‘to show that tracks by Ukrainian artists don’t necessarily have to feature a sopilka’.
Some of the tracks are still not released on streaming services. ‘One of the founders of Refuge said that it reminded him of city pop (Japanese disco pop of the 80s), and the Ukrainian language reminded him of Japanese’, the DJ shares.
The author calls the mix ‘a ray of light, hope and love’: ‘Most of the tracks you’ll hear in the set are created by my friends and acquaintances — artists who are based and work in Kyiv. The video starts with slow jams, through melancholic but beautiful motifs, moving to energetic rhythms. All the music selected for this set is a ray of light, hope and love. Those were the main criteria’.

Seba Korecky is co-founder of VERTUHA house (Closer residents) and music label VERTUHA Records; composer, music producer and disco funk music ambassador.
In the fall of 2023, Seba Korecky recorded an hour-long disco funk mix for the special project ‘Razom, a yak ishche?!’ (Together, how else?!).
‘‘Make love and listen to the music’ — my record begins with these lines. Music is unconditional love, it heals and is a power that brings us together, — Seba Korecky says. — Many tracks in this mix are my edits. With the mix I wanted to convey the love and the magical moment of unity on the dance floor that takes place at our VERTUHA parties, when music charges you with positive energy’.
