«Клуб на Кирилівській» у Києві

Сlub on Kyrylivska and Dekmantel will host a joint two-day event in Kyiv. Here’s what we know

Club ∄ and Dekmantel, one of the leading Dutch electronic music festivals, have announced a two-day club show to take place on July 11–12 at Kyrylivska 41. At the request of DTF Magazine, the team behind Kyiv’s Club on Kyrylivska revealed several details about the upcoming event

— Who initiated the collaboration: your team or the Dekmantel team?

The idea for a joint project emerged mutually thanks to our mutual friend, Interstellar Funk. Initially, it was just a fantasy — we discussed the possibility of collaboration without any specifics. But around New Year’s, we decided: ‘Alright, let’s try it, let’s have a call and see what happens’.

The Dekmantel team got excited about the idea very quickly, and together we started working on the format and lineup. Part of the festival’s team also visited Kyiv this winter — they were deeply impressed by the city, its atmosphere, and the community.

— Could you tell us more about the concept of the two-day club show? How many dance floors are you planning to open? Are you preparing something that hasn’t happened at the club before (or has happened very rarely)?

— Since this is our first collaborative event of this scale, we will open the Backyard in combination with the Second Floor. We will reveal all the details a bit later.

— Should we expect Dutch artists in the lineup? Or perhaps the selection covers an even broader geography?

— The lineup will definitely feature Dutch artists, as well as guests from the international community — including Japan, the United States, Germany, and Australia. The selection brings together artists we’ve long dreamed of bringing to Ukraine, along with several long-awaited returns.

— How was the lineup formed and who exactly was responsible for it: you, Dekmantel, or was it a collaborative effort? Can you name or at least hint at a few names?

It was a collaborative effort. We gathered ideas, put together a list of names, and started reaching out to artists. Confirmations came in very quickly — the level of interest in the project turned out to be quite high.

We’re keeping the names under wraps until the official announcement, but we can share a few hints. Of course, all of our residents will be performing. Among the highlights are the return of a Japanese techno artist who previously played with us before the full-scale invasion, and the debut of a queer artist from the United States whom many have been waiting for for a long time.

— What kind of sound are you planning to focus on within the collaboration?

— This event will have a clear focus on dance music. At the same time, we’re already discussing the possibility of turning this collaboration into an annual event. If everything goes well, we plan to expand the format in the future with new stages, live concerts, and other activities. But for now, these are still just plans.
