At this year’s awards from architectural media Dezeen, the Storage X Domaine 17 store is competing in the ‘Small Retail Interior’ subcategory of the ‘Interior’ section. Along with the showroom, the longlist of interiors includes 189 projects from 49 countries, including one more from Ukraine—the Kyiv-based restaurant Strichka
In its subcategory, Storage X Domaine 17 is competing with 14 other projects. Strichka has been included in the ‘Restaurant interior’ category.
The space at 30 Shota Rustaveli Street has united two streetwear-focused stores: the men’s Storage and the women’s Domaine 17.
Located in a building from the early 20th century, the 117-square-meter space consists of three halls.
About the concept
The space was designed by TEMP Project studio, which also created designs for Anoeses and Gunia Project stores. According to architect Anastasiia Tempinska, the owners of Storage X Domaine 17 wanted to convey the atmosphere of an ‘abandoned industrial zone’ with scratched concrete surfaces, exposed rebar, and plants.
‘The interior embodies the raw essence of an urban landscape that thrives with minimal human interference,’ Tempinska adds.
About the design
The space has retained its original brick walls, wooden ceiling beams, and arched doorways. The project’s primary materials are concrete, aged brick, stainless steel and corrugated metal.
In the first hall, Storage, a photo zone was set up for campaign and lookbook shoots, while the clothing rails can be lifted to the ceiling when needed. The Domaine 17 hall was complemented by an art installation of TV’s displaying images from the store’s security cameras.
The third hall, located at the back of the space, houses the fitting rooms. It is decorated with mirrored walls that create a maze-like effect. The storage room is separated from the main area by heavy doors designed to resemble a safe.
Storage X Domaine 17 is decorated with wall-mounted safes and greenery, as well as furniture from the brand Oito.
‘Brick, exposed beams and poured concrete interact with steel vault doors, mirrors and digital chaos. The result is a place where urban grit, visual storytelling and cultural memory collide — a dystopian backdrop for fashion, art and identity,’ the project description on Dezeen’s website reads.
The interior shortlist for the Dezeen Awards will be announced in October 2025, with the winners revealed on November 25.
