Warner Bros. Discovery will show Ukrainian psychological thriller ‘Between Us’

Warner Bros. Discovery has picked up the Ukrainian film ‘Between Us’ for the CEE region. Since May, the film will be aired on Max streaming and linear channel Cinemax, Deadline reported

‘Between Us’ is the feature film debut of director Solomiya Tomaschuk (‘When the trees fall’). The film was released in November 2023.

‘Between Us’ raises the themes of abusive and interdependent relationships. The plot centers on Sasha (Anastasia Pustovit), a young girl with a traumatic past and chaotic love relationships, and doctor Anya (Irma Vitovska), who has marital problems. Their lives are unexpectedly intertwined: the women become hostages to an accidental murder that ‘makes it clear that change is inevitable’.

‘But will the heroines be able to maintain their relationships under the new circumstances?’ the film’s synopsis reads.

It is the second movie licensed to Warner Bros. Discovery in the region by Ukrainian outfit Film.UA.

In 2021, the studio aired the Ukrainian-Polish film ‘Viddana’ (Felix Austria AKA Maid-In-Law), based on the novel of the same name by writer Sofia Andrukhovych.

Ukrainian drama ‘Screaming Girl’ directed by Antonio Lukich (‘Luxembourg, Luxembourg’) has won the top prize at the Berlinale Co-Production Market in February. It is awarded by Eurimages, a European film support fund, at the Berlinale — the prize amounts to 20 thousand EUR and is intended for the creation of the project
