‘Pryzemlennia’ by Okhtyrka-based collective Street Cultures Okhtyrka will be screened in the ‘Best Skateboarding Film’ category at the Suomifornia Film Festival. Each year, the festival selects fiction and documentary films about surfing and skateboarding
The winners in each category will be selected by an international jury, including Skateistan co-founder Oliver Percovich, skateboarder Alex Corporan, Finnish skateboarder and documentary filmmaker Arno Saarni, Burton Europe Marketing Director Lina Adams, and director Coan ‘Buddy’ Nichols.
‘The festival honors films that explore the spirit of freedom, the strength of community, and creative expression through street culture. Being selected for the category is an important step that brings the story of skateboarding in Okhtyrka and local initiatives to a new international level’, Street Cultures Okhtyrka says.
Suomifornia will take place in Helsinki on October 1 and 2, 2026.
About ‘Pryzemlennia’
The film is dedicated to the local street community that continues to develop street culture in the frontline city, as well as to the construction and development of the Krytka skatepark.
In a comment to DTF Magazine, Pavlo Ihnatchenko from Street Cultures Okhtyrka says that the film ‘Pryzemlennia’ is ‘an attempt to capture the moment when a community is not just surviving, but beginning to act’. Work on the film lasted six months.

The film also aims to convey that ‘street culture is not just about tricks or hanging out, but a powerful tool for resistance and unity’.
According to Pavlo, ‘Pryzemlennia’ highlights how the creation of the skatepark, driven by local community members and volunteers, influenced social dynamics in Okhtyrka and ‘brought back a feeling of community and belonging in a town long left in the shadows’.
The film’s title refers to landing after a skateboarding trick — a moment when you need to ‘stabilize and regain balance, even when everything around you is still unsteady’. Read more about ‘Pryzemlennia’ in our article.
