Port.agency, a cultural management agency, has created an initiative Artists Support Ukraine. The main goal of the project is to tell about the war unleashed by russia against Ukraine and to encourage the international cultural community to talk about it
Ukrainian artists can send drawings, illustrations, posters and videos to [email protected] to be published on Artists Support Ukraine social networks. You can also post your work on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #ArtistsSupportUkraine.
Cultural institutions from around the world can also participate in this initiative, for example, by organizing an exhibition with these drawings.
According to Port.agency founder Katya Taylor, «contemporary art has been a voice of truth for the last hundred years and its main mission is to be on the event horizon and to reflect on the light around it».
«Art in our situation is another tool to spread the word about the war in Ukraine. Everyone has to do what he or she can with what he or she has at hand. I think that the two common missions of culture during the war are: to preserve cultural heritage and to produce new meanings, — Katya believes. — It is culture that will unite people when we begin to rebuild our country after the war. The new Ukrainian culture, new values, memes, and patterns will unite people. We are used to thinking of culture as something abstract, but it manifests itself in very simple things, namely clothing, music, advertising. A cultural renaissance based on our restored identity awaits us. And who should be at the forefront of this incredible change. Culture will be the glue that will unite, and in fact culture is already uniting our nation».
