First look: New drop by jewelry brand Sasha Zayats

After more than a year of pause, designer Sasha Zayats’ jewelry brand is relaunching. The new Sasha Zayats drop consists of claw rings, which became a signature item of the brand’s previous collections, as well as of necklaces, pendants, earrings and hair jewelry

Working on the concept of the drop, Sasha ‘reflected on the emotion of ‘cringe’’, which she believes ‘indicates the beginning of empathy’. In jewelry, she works with ‘pointed, curved and broken forms’, thus ‘reflecting with irony about inner transformations’.

The Damaged Claw rings, which are a classic for Sasha Zayats, are presented in an updated look — with darkened cracks in three different versions. Sasha says the design of the jewelry has become a certain ‘opinion on physical and metaphorical scars’, and she sees the three rings as one set, but doesn’t rule out the option of styling them separately ‘for a more casual look’.

One of the photographs of Damaged Claw rings was an ‘allusion to a performance by Guenther Bruce’, an Austrian artist and ‘godfather’ of actionism who died in February 2024.

Hair pin hair jewelry is a long silver hair pin. When creating the accessory, Sasha was inspired by kanzashi — hair sticks used by Japanese geisha.

‘Hair pin is shaped like a four-sided piece of jewelry with the slogan multifunctional tool: to kill, to eat, to wear’.

The new drop also features Laundry tag sets — earrings and pendants in the shape of a square plate with tags, usually applied to the clothing tags, with notes and washing recommendations. The ‘ironic style’ of the collection continues with rings engraved with the inscription ‘What is cringe?’ and a necklace engraved with the inscription ‘Cringe is not a sin’.

The collection also includes jewelry from a previous drop called Antlers: minimalist earrings, rings and bracelets in the shape of horns.

All items are made by the brand’s masters in Kyiv from sterling silver. You can buy jewelry from the new drop on the website of Sasha Zayats or offline in the Unmere brand studio on Reitarska Street, 8b.

Designer Sasha Zayats launched her eponymous jewelry brand in 2021.

The brand’s concept is based on ‘creating jewelry inspired by the symbiosis of personal experience and basic human values, particularly freedom of choice or success’.
