New place: Cinema Bookstore in the «Zhovten» cinema in Kyiv

On April 9, the team of «Zakapelok» bookstore, which is located on Verkhnii Val St, opened the Cinema Bookstore in the «Zhovten» cinema. It is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In a comment for DTF Magazine, Nataliia Paromska, owner of the «Zakapelok» store and the Cinema Bookstore, said that in collaboration with the cinema’s team, they revived the bookstore that operated on the premises of «Zhovten» during the coronavirus pandemic.

«Our team really loves “Zhovten“ and is committed to it, so we thought this iconic place was missing a cool bookstore. We reached out to the cinema’s management and decided to join forces».

The space specializes in literature about film, art, architecture and culture. Cinema Bookstore also offers fiction for adults and children, poetry, and popular science publications. According to the team, they are guided by the needs of readers when they form the assortment.

The store space is small, but it has a «secret place» — an inner courtyard. Nataliia added that the team has «big plans» for it: in the future in the Cinema Bookstore they plan not only to sell books, but also to organize cultural events and collaborations.

About other new bookstores in Kyiv:

At the beginning of March, the «Misto» art bookstore opened on Knyaziv Ostrozkykh Street 5/2 near the «Arsenalna» metro station. It was founded by Diana Slonchenko, who before the full-scale invasion worked as a senior flight attendant at «UIA».

Initially, «Misto» planned to sell only publications by Ukrainian writers, modern and classic authors, as well as fiction. But at the request of visitors the assortment was expanded with publications by foreign authors.

We told you more about the space in our article.
