The Closer team presents the concept for the dance floors of the Strichka festival

Strichka festival, taking place on May 16–17 at 31 Nyzhnioiurkivska Street, will span the entire grounds of the former Ribbon Weaving Factory. The lineup features more than 40 artists, including 11 international acts from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Venezuela. At the request of DTF Magazine, the Closer team shared the concepts behind the festival’s stages and explained what will make each dance floor unique

This year’s visual concept for Strichka is built around the shape of a square.

‘Here, the square acts as a pixel — the fundamental building block of everything, from the visual identity to the finishes and materials. For the factory’s design, the duo Masiks.Prod drew inspiration from the visual identity created by KAMA and expanded it into a fully developed spatial language’, the organizers explain.

Closer

‘This is a club dancefloor in its purest sense — the signature Closer sound’.

Dvir

‘This year’s main stage is all about contrast between the two days. Saturday features Ukrainian live sets, most of which are exclusive premieres. Sunday, meanwhile, features an all-DJ lineup, ranging from Closer and ∄ residents to international guests in the second half of the day. We’ve refined last year’s stage design concept by adding a projector that will illuminate the panels, replacing all lighting fixtures, and installing a tile-shaped frame made of strobe bars — a motif that has become the symbol of this year’s festival’.

Otel’

‘A dance floor dedicated to techno and electro, running on both Saturday and Sunday. Overall, there is no dedicated techno stage at Strichka this year, but if techno is what you are looking for, you can find it — along with plenty of electro — at Otel’’.

3rd Floor

‘At 3rd Floor, it’s all about the interplay of light through glass blocks, crystal chandeliers, lasers, and a music program for discerning listeners. Expect Ukrainian selectors alongside a special guest from France. Saturday only’.

Lisnyi Prychal

‘A lot of effort went into upgrading Lisnyi Prychal this year. We replaced the roof and built a walkway along the dance floor so people can move around freely without having to push through the crowd. In short, we’ve completely revamped the venue for dancing in the new season. Reliability and safety remain our top priorities’.

Garden

‘A dance floor dedicated to relaxation, open on both days. Saturday focuses on all-vinyl sets with a deep and meditative vibe. Sunday starts at noon with a thoughtful, carefully curated program designed for attentive listening’.

Mezzanine

‘The attic venue is dedicated to house and disco. Saturday’s program features a British DJ of Ukrainian descent, a Toy Tonics resident, Ihor Hlushko, and Seba Korecky’s band’.
