Dakh Daughters performed at the Tiny Desk meets globalFEST online festival

The Ukrainian art collective Dakh Daughters took part in the online festival Tiny Desk meets globalFEST. It was organized by the team of NPR Music channel, which releases a series of live performances of Tiny Desk Concerts on YouTube, and the team of American music festival globalFEST

The band opened the event and performed three songs, namely Viyna, Fellini and Umry.

«Unfortunately, we were forced to leave our home and move to France because of the war in Ukraine. Now we are in Normandy, where we can create our own art front and shout about our pain. Now Ukraine is fighting for everyone’s freedom. We can defend democracy and freedom of the world together and only together. Support Ukraine», Dakh Daughters said before the performance.

Collectives from Morocco, China and Algeria performed with Dakh Daughters at Tiny Desk meets globalFEST. The online festival team said that the musicians’ videos were «filmed in their respective homelands, on the road and in exile all over the world».

In May the Ukrainian band «DakhaBrakha» performed live on the American independent radio station KEXP in Seattle. The Ukrainian band became a guest of KEXP for the fourth time and presented two new songs.

In total, the musicians played three songs, including Sonnet and new compositions 9 nedilechok and Rozhestov. The members of «DakhaBrakha» said that the presented songs have not been recorded yet, so «in fact, these are their media premieres».

The musicians also talked to the hosts about the war in Ukraine and Ukrainian culture during the 30-minute broadcast.
